Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for international patients planning medical travel to China.

Common questions from international patients planning medical travel to China. Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp — we'll reply as soon as we receive your message.

Q.What does China Medical Services do?

We help international patients find the right hospital in China and book a vetted, English-speaking medical companion who guides you through your visit — from registration to discharge and follow-up.

Q.What is a medical companion, and what do they do?

A companion meets you at the hospital (or airport/hotel) and handles hospital navigation, real-time English–Chinese translation, registration and fee payment, collecting results and prescriptions, local logistics, and follow-up coordination. See the full list on our Companion page.

Q.Do companions speak English?

Yes. All companions are English-speaking; some also speak other languages such as Japanese, Spanish, French, German, or Russian.

Q.Are companions medically trained? Do they give medical advice?

Companions assist with language and logistics, not clinical care. They do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment — your doctors do. Please see our Medical Disclaimer.

Q.Which cities do you cover?

37 major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and more. Browse them from the Cities menu at the top of the page.

Q.How do I find the right hospital?

Tell us your condition, city, and preferences, and we recommend suitable Fudan-ranked or JCI-accredited hospitals and their international departments. You can also browse hospitals on each city page.

Q.How do I book, and how much does it cost?

Message us on WhatsApp with your city, hospital, and dates. Companions are available as half-day, full-day, or multi-day; we confirm the price for your specific request before you book. Service time starts upon meeting.

Q.How do I pay?

Payments are handled securely through providers such as PayPal, or coordinated via WhatsApp. We do not store your card details.

Q.Can you help with a medical visa?

Yes. We can help with invitation letters and document preparation for a China medical (S2/S1) visa. Start with our Visa Guide.

Q.Is my information kept private?

Yes — see our Privacy Policy for what we collect and how it is used.

Q.How do I become a companion?

If you live in China and speak English (or another foreign language), you can apply to join our companion network. Details are on the recruitment page.
